Road to Seamless Planning :: SAC Migration :: 1.0 :: Setup

Introduction

As described in the Blog “Minimum Viable Product with Seamless Planning” (https://www.zpartner.eu/minimum-viable-product-with-seamless-planning/) a prerequisite for Seamless Planning is that the SAC tenant is running on HANA Cloud.

Currently, our tenant is not hosted on HANA Cloud, making migration the first necessary step toward achieving Seamless Planning.

You can check this under ‚Information‘ and ‚About‘ in your system.

Set up

SAP has provided us with a new SAC tenant on HANA Cloud for 30 days to facilitate migration from our existing ZPARTNER SAC tenant. Additionally, we received a customer guide, Migration of SAP Analytics Cloud within a Cloud Foundry Landscape (Intra-landscape), to assist in the process.

To ensure a smooth transition, we developed a project plan aligned with the migration path described in the customer guide and awaited the activation of our new tenant.

STEP1 : 5.3.1 :: Check with SAP on contract adjustments

Upon receiving access to our new SAC tenant on January 13, 2025, we performed the first login and initiated the setup process.

STEP 2 : 5.3.2  Initialize your new SAP Analytics Cloud tenant

After successfully logging in for the first time, we began preparing for migration.

5.3.2 :: 001 :: System Configuration Setup

We followed the customer guide and set up the system configuration in the source tenant by enabling Job for Export and Import and enable model export to the File Server and the export of private objects.

Setup Source Tenant

Setup Target Tenant

Our new tenant needs to allow import from File Server.

Synchronize System Configuration

As the next step, we aimed to synchronize the system but noticed differences between the old and new configurations.

Old

New

5.3.2 :: 002 :: Configure SAML

Next, we configured SAML to match the old tenant. We followed guide linked in the customer guide (https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-sap/saml-authentication-in-sap-analytics-cloud/ba-p/13345019) .

Conclusion

After approximately four hours, we successfully completed the initial phase of our SAC migration. This milestone marks the beginning of our journey toward Seamless Planning.

Our next focus will be Step 3: Setting up security configurations in the new tenant to ensure a secure and structured environment.

Stay tuned for further updates on our migration progress!
